The Liege Rome Liege rally is 75 years old !
|
|
To celebrate this anniversary, the Motor Union Classic Race has prepared a unique 2005 edition.
The rally will take place from 20 24 June 2005 and will revive the itinerary of the roads and passes of Italy and Slovenia which created the legend of the Liege in the last century.
According to the archives, some of these passes have not been used by the rally since 1956 when it first passed through Yugoslavia.
And there are no less than 7 new features, which are unique to the 2005 event:
1) Departure from the top of the Stelvio pass
2) The same roads as in 1956
3) Arrival with your feet in the water
4) Character cars of more recent date
5) Average speed, regularity and festivities
6) Two application forms
7) Ranking and Challenge trophies
The total distance is about 1250 km to be covered in four days. Regularity trials will be held throughout the rally and every evening the days most talented teams will be awarded prizes.

But, above all, the Liege Rome Liege is an Adventure.
|
|
A true monument of motor sport, the Liege Rome Liege rally was a fantastic human and engineering adventure and still is today. Keeping to an average speed of between 45 and 50 k.p.h. on mountain roads, both when ascending and descending these famous high passes, demands patience, concentration, skill and harmonious teamwork.
" 2005 already looks like being a vintage year. The teams are preparing, the mechanics are hard at work and, who knows
perhaps even the cars, conscious of the admiring glances that they will draw, are dreaming in the silence of their dark garages of sun, flowers and victory "
Alain Defalle.

Whoever has never experienced a regularity test involving driving through the Stelvio pass in a vintage or classic car has never experienced anything
Enough said!
