(Q.1) What kind of cars can take part in the Liege-Rome-Liege ?

The Liege-Rome-Liege is open to pre-war cars and to cars of a type produced before December 31, 1960. Exceptionally for the 75th anniversary, character cars of more recent date will be accepted for the rally, by invitation.
To know if your car is eligible, please send an e-mail or a fax to the Organisation with the following information about your vehicle: Make - type or model – year – cylinder capacity. Send a photo if possible and other information such as the history of the car or a record of its achievements.

(Q.2) Does my car have to be specially prepared ?

Absolutely not. On the contrary, we welcome cars which are as standard as possible.
Therefore you don't have to transform your classic car with a rollover bar, sump guard, foam-filled tank and so-on - but if your car does have those modifications, it is still eligible.

(Q.3) Are competition licences required for the crew or the car ?

The crew doesn't need any competition licences but the car must have a FIVA identity card. FIVA (International Federation of Classic Vehicles) is the organisation that oversees regularity rallies for classic cars, such as the Liege-Rome-Liege.
FIVA identity cards are issued by the respective historic vehicle federations in each country. If you do not have a FIVA card, contact our office for advice on how to obtain one.

(Q.4) When do I receive the car's rally plates and numbers, and other documents ?

About a month before the rally, each confirmed crew will receive, by post, everything they need for the event : rally plates, door numbers, hotel and meal vouchers, regulations for signing on and scrutineering, timing, useful information...
In this way, competitors will be able to prepare their car at their leisure and to familiarise themselves with the material.

(Q.5) And what about road-books ?

Road-books will be handed out at signing-on, a few hours before the rally start.

(Q.6) What happens at signing-on and scrutineering ?

The purpose of signing-on is to prove that your vehicle is taxed and insured.
Scrutineering will concentrate on your car's safety-related items (indicators, battery fastenings, presence of a fire extinguisher...) and its road legality. Remember, Halda Tripmaster, Retrotrip or any other special distance measuring devices are prohibited (See article 3.3 of the regulations)
Rally numbers, rally plates and organisers' promotional material must be applied to the vehicle before scrutineering.

(Q.7) How are competition numbers allotted ?

Competition numbers are allotted according to your car's age and its engine's cubic capacity.
The oldest cars receive the lowest numbers.

(Q.8) How am I kept informed about what's going on ?

We send out to registered participants our Liege-Rome-Liege Report, which gives latest news and important information about the rally and keeps you up-to-date on how preparations for the event are proceeding. Another source of information is our website, which is regularly updated.

(Q.9) I don't have any previous experience in rallying : can I still take part ?

Yes, of course. Each year, more than 30% of entrants to the Liege-Rome-Liege have never done any rallying before. They all do well and don't find themselves being left behind by the more experienced participants.
Many of the crews are couples, which helps give the event an even more sociable character.

(Q.10) We are not mechanically minded. What happens if we break down ?

A breakdown service is on call to help competitors in difficulty transport their car to the nearest local garage. If your car is temporarily immobilised, you won't be excluded from the rally and you'll be able to join it later on.
