(Q.31) Is there a dress code ?
In our rallies most crews do not wear competition overalls and the dress code during the day is casual.
The dress code for evening meals is more formal, particularly for the official prize-giving ceremony in Rome, where the preferred style is cocktail dresses for the ladies and jackets and ties for the men.
(Q.32) Who do I speak to if I have a question during the rally ?
Rally officials will be on hand to answer any questions entrants may have.
For efficiency's sake and in view of the number of competitors, we are planning to organise the following method of communication :
QUERY FORM
You will find a query form in your road-book at the end of each day's instructions. This document will allow you to raise any questions you have with the organisers.
(Q.33) My co-driver only speaks German. Will he be able to communicate easily with the organisers ?
Our officials speak French, English, Italian and German. English and Italian marshalls will also be available to help you.
(Q.34) How do I get back after the rally ?
Returning from the rally is your own responsibility. The rally finishes on the evening of Thursday June 23 with the official prize-giving ceremony. Most of the competitors will be coming back by road, but if you wish to return by plane, we can organise a road transporter for your car to any destinations in Europe (cost to be announced later).
(Q.35) Can I put advertising on my car ?
Yes, advertising on the cars is allowed over an area conforming to FIVA regulations : that is, two spaces measuring 50 x 10cm each.
We rely on competitors to keep any promotional material in the spirit of a classic rally and to ensure that vehicles are not turned into mobile 'sandwich boards'.
(Q.36) I am a non-European. Do I need a passport and will I have to fill out any paperwork at borders ?
Your passport will suffice within Europe, but you should check whether you need a visa for entering the Continent.
(Q.37) My business duties oblige me to keep in contact with my office. How can I do this ?
A few weeks before the rally starts, each crew will receive a complete list of hotels with addresses, telephone and fax numbers, so that you will remain contactable any evening at the end of the stage.
(Q.38) What is the Liege Rally Timer that I've heard about ?
Manufactured by CD Concept company, the rally timer is a new system of electronic timekeeping which calculates an instantaneous classification without the risk of handwritten clerical errors.
The heart of this new system is a microchip attached to the time card of each competitor, which stores all its results during the day. At the end of a stage, it takes less than a second to transmit this data to a PC and to calculate the general classification, without the need to read anything off and key it in.
The competitor doesn't have to do anything, and all the necessary hardware is provided by the organisers.
(Q.39) I wish to install a Halda or Speedpilot in addition to my speedometer. What do you advise ?
Don't do it !
You would have to remove it at scrutineering, in accordance with article 3.3.2 of the regulations. Diagrams and reference points in the road-book are accurate enough for you to cover the whole route without making any mistakes or getting lost.
(Q.40) Are mobile phones allowed ?
Yes, provided you respect the event's spirit of fair play.
(Q.41) My friends and family would like to know how I am getting on in the rally. Do you provide an information service ?
There is this website that will be updated hourly for latest news of the rally.
