Start from the top of the Stelvio pass
Any mention of Liege Rome Liege conjures up memories of the Stelvio pass.
This pass is inseparably linked to the history of our rally; it is here that the legendary drivers made their reputations and it is here that the finest pages of the history of the Liege were written.
It is from the top of the 2758 metres high Stelvio in the Italian Alps that the starting signal for the 75th Liege Rome Liege will be given on Monday 20 June.
And, as if that were not enough, the first vehicle will leave the departure time checkpoint at nightfall for a loop of about 100 km.
> The welcome for the participants and the technical and administrative formalities will take place throughout Monday in the town of Bormio, which lies at the foot of the Stelvio. [ Please read the technical details]
> There are several ways for you to reach Bormio: by road in your classic car, transport of the cars by lorry

On the same roads as in 1956
In 1956 the Liege Rome Liege left the beaten track and found new horizons in the direction of Yugoslavia.
The rally will take you on these same roads this year with, among other things, the crossing of the Kranjska Gora pass and the discovery of Slovenia.
A splendid route in a country to be discovered, which displays a multitude of riches and magnificent landscapes.
> Here is the full programme of the rally day by day.
Arrival with your feet in the water
Rome will not be the final destination of the 75th Liege Rome Liege.
Though the starting signal will be given at the top of the highest pass, the final arrival will be at sea level with your feet in the water.
Portorose, situated to the west of Slovenia and bathed by the Adriatic Sea, has been chosen for this.
The rally has to pass through Piran, hardly 2 km from Portorose... but that again is one of the features unique to 2005.
There is talk also of a private beach that has been reserved for the final prizegiving gala
Character cars of more recent date
Exceptionally for this jubilee event, more recent vehicles will be accepted for the rally.
Jaguar E Type, MG B, Triumph TR4, Mini Cooper S and others... will be able to discover (again) the fantastic roads of their youth in Italy and Slovenia, while the teams will be doing their best to drive, read the road book and avoid the penalties.
This is indeed a unique opportunity to experience and share this 2005 adventure.
Of course, pre-war vehicles will still form the great majority and as always they will be spirited competitors for the rankings.
< The technical regulations will inform you of the precise vehicle eligibility conditions.
Average speed, regularity and festivities
Though the Liege Rome Liege has retained its character as a rally where regularity counts, its selective and sporting nature will be much in evidence in 2005.
The average speeds for the regularity sections have been slightly increased and certain linking sections will require particular attention from the co-driver and a firm hand on the wheel from the driver.

Certain stages will, of course, be mainly for the pleasure of the landscapes they cross and the picturesqueness of the places which they pass through. Some towns and villages have already put the refreshments to cool and the inhabitants of the villages who have been alerted to your arrival are already looking forward to welcoming you.
Two entry possibilities
The entry fee for the 2005 Liege Rome Liege is set at 3350 euros per car (crew of 2) for the 4 days and includes all the logistic material (road books, time controls and regularity sections, full services of the Stewards, Marshals and the technical staff and transport of your car to the nearest garage in case of technical problems)
as well as midday meal, festivities and receptions throughout the rally and the Final Prizegiving Gala Dinner.
Hotel accommodation is not included in the entry fee. It is up to each team to book directly with their hotel.
For those teams that desire it, the organiser offers an "All Inclusive" package at a fixed price which, in addition to the above services, includes the nights in high class hotels and other personalized services.
The fixed All Inclusive fee is set at 4600 euros per car (crew of 2) for the 4 days.
Irrespective of the type of entry package taken, your car can be transported by lorry to the start in Bormio (Italy) June 20, and/or can also be sent back by lorry after the rally.
> All the practical details are explained in the conditions page.
Ranking and Challenge trophies
In addition to the general rankings and rankings by category, drivers will compete for other trophies in the rally.
Some of these will emphasise the consistent progression of the teams, others will take the technical performance more into account.
> The specific practical details will be announced later.
