In the tradition of the Bentley Boys, the Scuderia Ferrari and, after the war, the privateers that made the racing scene of the 1950s and 1960s so unique and colourful, the Gentleman Drivers Award series supported by Historic Motor Racing News places the emphasis on privateer owner-drivers of pre-1966 GT and pre-1963 Sports Racing cars.
Although the Gentleman Drivers are as fast and competitive as any historic racers, enjoyment of the cars, with plenty of track time on historic circuits, with a class structure that minimises the differences in ages and performance of the cars, has gained a huge and ever-growing support.
